About

Jude Mumford left his life as a D.I. behind in North London and moved to the Fenland village of Eaststowe to become a tennis coach.

It was all going so well until, one morning while out walking with his trusted dog Spud, they find a body. When Jude is told how the victim died he is overcome with guilt and in an effort to ease his conscience he feels duty bound to investigate.

Jude puts his plans for a tennis academy on hold as he probes the backgrounds of his fellow villagers. He is a man who thrives on solitude but his neighbours have their own ideas about how things should be done and it is not long before they join forces to solve the crime.

As Jude forges new friendships and gets to know the locals and what drives their community, he risks his life to bring the suspect to justice.

But has he got it right?

WITNESS A KILLING is a cosy mystery about a love of animals, human solitude, loneliness, friendship and of course murder.

Praise for this book

'Author Sue Tort presents narrative as a ‘cozy’ murder mystery crime thriller genre, but inserts a high degree of humour. What lifts ‘Witness A Killing’ to a 5-star rating is that it tells a human story of right and wrong, and loyalty and friendship – without straying from credible characters within a plausible plot. This augers well for a future series of the ‘Mumford Team’ with introduction of Jude’s neighbours, the gardener and Rosebud the writer-business operator.
